Louise Bauman was born December 8, 1865, in Michigan City, Indiana, the sixth of eight children of John and Margaret Bauman. When a year old, the family moved to Aurora, Illinois, where they remained for three years, then moved to Clarence, Iowa, in 1869. She grew to womanhood and received her education in the Garrison school. She married William Bachman on March 4, 1891. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Clarence, where they remained throughout their married life until 1919, when they retired and moved into Clarence to live. Son Arthur now farms the family farm. Of the couples five children, three survive their mother. William preceded her in death on November 22, 1923. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Clarence, its ladies organizations, especially the work of the Women's Foreign Missionary society and a member of the Wednesday Literary Club. Surviving are two sons, Arthur (Irma) Bachman and Fred (Edith) Bachman, both of Clarence; one daughter, Clara Bachman of Independence; six grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister. She preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Eva Bachman in infancy, one son, Edgar Bachman at age five; and three siblings in Germany. The Clarence Sun, Apr. 16, 1936, page 4
