Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Community Church in Aurora. The Rev. Jerry Breese will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Mrs. Valentine was born Oct. 18, 1927, at Mason City to Wright and Eva B. (Snider) Runyan. She grew up in Mason City where she attended school and graduated from Mason City High School in 1945. She moved to York in 1947, where she worked at a grocery store. She married Robert E. Valentine on Sept. 5, 1948, at Mason City. The couple lived in York, McCool Junction and Superior before moving to Aurora in September 1952. Her husband died Nov. 30, 1981. She was a member of Faith Community Church. She enjoyed taking care of her husband and children. She was an avid fan of her family when they competed in sports and other activities. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert "Les" and Beverly Valentine of Aurora, Thomas and Marsha Valentine of Hastings, Stuart and Karen Valentine of Omaha and Jerry Valentine of Meadow Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Neil Bieck of Giltner; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Dean Runyan of Oakhurst, Calif., Donald Runyan of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jim Runyan of Lincoln. She was preceded her in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Teresa; two grandchildren; a brother, Richard Runyan; and a sister, Una Mae Zeleski. The Grand Island Independent, Nov. 7, 2001
