The funeral of Mrs. Eva Steele Demarest, the wife of the late David Demarest, will be held on Saturday morning, at 10:30 o'clock, at St. Paul's Episcopal church, and the service will be in the care of the rector, Dr. David Stuart Hamilton. The interment will be made in Wyckoff. Mrs. Demarest was visiting at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth, the wife of John R. Greenhalgh, at Wellesley, Mass., when she was stricken with an attack of pneumonia, and, following a week of suffering, she passed away on Wednesday morning. The announcement of her death was a shock to a wide circle of friends in this city and in the Hawthorne section, where he made her home at 580 Goffle road. Mrs. Demarest was born in this city and was widely known and revered here. She was in her sixty-first year, and was the daughter of Mrs. Maria and the late Jacob H. Steele. The deceased well woman was active in all lines of good work, and was especially interested in the work of St. Paul's church. She was a member of the Rector's Aid society. Mrs. Demarest had a warm heart toward the special activities of the community that had for their object the advancement of others, she was a member of the Woman's club of Paterson, and served most acceptably on the hospitality committee, possessing a personality that was not only attractive, but valuable, in a task of that kind. Mrs. Demarest was also actively interested in the work of the Young Woman's Christian association, and was a member of the Woman's Aid of the Paterson General hospital. In all of these activities her loss will be deeply felt. The deceased is survived by one son, David Demarest Jr . of Hawthorne, and one daughter, Mrs. John R. Greenhalgh. There are also two grandchildren, to whom Mrs. Demarest was especially devoted. They are: David Demarest III, and;, Betty Ann Greenhalgh.
