The daughter of John Wesley and Melissa Jane Ransford Stodgell, she was born July 4, 1900 at Alexis, Illinois. She was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School; attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and Iowa Wesleyan College at Mt. Pleasant. Read More	Evalyn M. Stodgell, age 99, formerly of Morning Sun, died Friday, Sep 24, 1999, at the Integrated Healthy Service of Mediapolis. The daughter of John Wesley and Melissa Jane Ransford Stodgell, she was born July 4, 1900 at Alexis, Illinois. She was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School; attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and Iowa Wesleyan College at Mt. Pleasant. She taught school for 18 years, the last 12 at Morning Sun. She served as Post Office Clerk for 27 years at the Morning Sun Post Office. She was a life-time member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun, the UPW and Martha Circle. Survivors include two nephews, 11 nieces, and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday, Sep 27, 1999, at First United Presbyterian Church, Morning Sun, the Rev. Jack Edmisson officiating. Music was provided by Pamela Butler, organists, Charlotte Gibson, Pianist, and Nancy Pierce, vocalist. Casket bearers were Gene Hamilton, Leroy Pierce, Roger Delzell, Sheldon Kongable, Bill McElhinney and John Thomas. Interment followed at the Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. Visitation was Sunday afternoon at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. There was no family visitation. A memorial has been established for First United Presbyterian Church, Morning Sun.
