Meeker was born May 5, 1853, in Zanesville,, Ohio, and in 1857, with her parents, moved to Eddyville, Iowa, where they resided until March 1872, when they moved to Oskaloosa, Kansas October 1st, 1872, she was married to her now bereaved husband, William Seth Fairchild. Meeker was born May 5, 1853, in Zanesville,, Ohio, and in 1857, with her parents, moved to Eddyville, Iowa, where they resided until March 1872, when they moved to Oskaloosa, Kansas October 1st, 1872, she was married to her now bereaved husband, William Seth Fairchild. Six children were born to them, four of whom are living and two dead, one dying in childhood, and the other, Mrs. Harry Hall, passed away the 2nd of January, last. For about three years she had been battling the dread disease, consumption, and at times suffered intensely but uncomplainingly, believing till almost the last that she would recover. She was a devout Christian, having given her heart to the Master and joined the church some twenty years or more ago, and at last, when she realized that she must go, gave word of comfort and consolation to her loved ones and urged them to meet her "over there," an unbroken family. Every care and attention, with medical aid, was given her, but no avail, and on the 10th of this month she departed this life, surrounded by her sorrowing loved ones. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday, conducted by Rev. S. F. Wilson, and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, the sermon very pathetic and impressive and the musi8c appropriate. The K. of P. lodge, of which Mr. Fairchild is a member, turned out in a body, also acted as pall-bearers. The remains were laid to rest in Pleasant View cemetery by the side of the two loved ones gone before.
