Description	:	Evelyn A. Meiers, 85, formerly of Tipton, died peacefully, Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Lutheran Homes Society in Muscatine, with her family by her side. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. A memorial fund has been established to Hospice Compassus of Davenport in her memory. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 20, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tipton. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa. Evelyn Alice Buchholtz was born December 7, 1931, in Alta Vista, the daughter of Louie and Bess (Machin) Buchholtz. She graduated from Riceville High School in 1951. She married Richard Alvis Meiers on August 30, 1964, in Tipton. She worked as a sales clerk and was a Service Desk Manager for Walmart in Tipton, until her retirement in March of 1998. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Tipton. She is survived by one daughter, Debra (James) Gerardy of Maquoketa; two sons, Dennis (Shirley) Meiers of Port Byron, IL, and Richard (Lisa) Meiers of Solon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dean F. Buchholtz of Morris, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Rose Marie Miller. Fry Funeral Home
