Description	:	Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, July 14 for Mrs. John (Evelyn) Wortman at St. Ludger Catholic church with the Rev. Melvern Wiese, pastor, and the Rev. Leonard Musteikis of Plainview officiating. Burial was in St. Ludger Cemetery. Pallbearers were sons and sons-in-law. Evelyn Beyer was born Dec. 23, 1918 to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beyer at Maple River, Ia. and died Sunday, July 11 at the Plainview Hospital following a lingering illness. Evelyn Beyer was born Dec. 23, 1918 to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beyer at Maple River, Ia. and died Sunday, July 11 at the Plainview Hospital following a lingering illness. She attended school at Mt Carmel, Ia. On Sept. 6, 1939 she married John H. Wortman Jr. at Carroll, Ia. Ten children were born to them. They lived on a farm north of Brunswick for 25 years until moving to Creighton in November 1975. She devoted most of his time to her family and home but operated the Treat Shop in Creighton for several years. Survivors include her husband; children, LeRoy Wortman of Neligh, Mrs. Clair (Karen) Ohlrich of Brunswick, Mrs. Ed (Jeanette) Mills of Rapid City, S.D., Joe Wortman of Schuyler, Mrs. Gary (Joan) Pack of Spearfish, S.D, Ben Wortman of Pierce, Pat Wortman of Norfolk and Mrs. Bill (Peggy) Werdel of Ree Heights, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in 1951, a son in 1959, two sisters and four brothers. ...The Creighton News 22 July 1976
