Mrs. Eva Electa Barrett Dusenberry was born at East Randolph, N.Y., on April 11th, 1850, and died at Nelson, Nebraska, April 12th, 1926, at the age of 76 years, 1 day. She was reared to young womanhood at East Randolph. When twenty years of age she moved with the family to Waterville, Kansas. At Waterville in the year 1877, she was married to Mr. D.S. Dusenberry (sic). Thirty-five years ago they came to Nelson where they have resided ever since. This home was blessed with six children, three of whom have died in infancy; the other three are here today to mourn the loss of one of the best mothers that ever lived: Mrs. Winona Hobbs, Albion, Nebr.; Mrs. Lucile Patterson, Chicago; Mrs. Corrinne Bossemeyer, Salina, Kans. This family, the parents and the children, entered heartily into the life in the community, always active in the churcha (sic) and the public schools as well. Mrs. Dusenbery became a Christian in her youth, and was always true to the profession of her faith. She was an active member of the Presbyterian church of Nelson until the Lord called her home in Himself. She was an accomplished musician, making use of this gift in the service of the Lord. She was able to render help in the music of the sanctury. For a long time the pastor depended upon her to play the instrument at the Prayer meeting of which she was a regular attendant. In the Woman's Auxiliaries she was eager to do her part. During her last illness she was cared for tenderly by her family and everything was done for her recovery. Through the ordeals of life in the sushine (sic) as well as the shadow, her faith in God never wavered. She was one of those radiant souls who loved the beautiful in the book of nature--the Golden Sunset stirred her soul. She reveled in the aesthetic in music and the Bible itself was her constant guide--her rule of faith and practice. Endowed with an unusually keen mind, she took interest in public affairs and was well read. She had a fine sense of appreciation of her friends; made friends easy and kept them. By precept and as well by example she held before her children the highest ideals of life. She was one of those rare Christian mothers, and the daughters today arise and call her blessed. Some of her favorite passages of Scripture indicate the trend of her mind and soul, such as Psalms 23rd and 19th, and 14th chapter of John. She will be truly missed in the home and from among her large circle of friends, but her radiant Christian spirit will live in hearts left behind. Besides the husband and three daughters, six grand children survive her, as well as a host of friends, who mourn her loss. One sweetly solemn thought Comes to me o'er and o'er; I'm nearer home today Than I ever have been before. Near the bound of life, Where we lay our burdens down; Nearer leaving the cross- Nearer wearing the crown. But lying darkly between Winding down through the night, Is the dim and unknown stream That lead, at last, to the light. The funeral services were conducted at the home on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. S.H. Jones conducted the service. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Superior.
