Evelyn was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 16, 1915, the daughter of Lorents A. and Anna Brendsel Finsvik. Read More	Evelyn Grosfield, 84, of Big Timber passed away peacefully of natural causes Monday, February 21 in the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber. Evelyn was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 16, 1915, the daughter of Lorents A. and Anna Brendsel Finsvik. She graduated from Sioux City Central High in 1933, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. On November 14, 1942, in Sioux City, she was married to Louis Grosfield of Big Timber. They ranched for may years northwest of Big Timber in Sweet Grass County on Swamp Creek, later moving to the north end of the ranch on Big Timber Creek. Evelyn was very involved in the Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and the youth programs, both in Big Timber and in Santa Barbara, California, where they spent several years beginning in 1957. Later she enjoyed being hostess to friends and family at their new ranch home on Big Timber Creek in the shadow of the Crazy Mountains. She always loved literature, music, traveling and playing bridge. She especially loved children and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Mildred Rostad and Palmer Finsvik of Big Timber, Gordon and infant sister Lucille of Sioux City; and cousin Pearl Davis of Visalia, California, who also grew up in the Finsvik home. She is survived by her husband, Louis of Big Timber; son, Lorents and his wife Sydney and three grandsons, Nikolas and Zachary of Big Timber and Arik and his wife Rachel of Detroit, Michigan; daughter, Eline Knudson and two granddaughters, Karla and her husband Jeff Wiegrefe and Kristin, all of Minot, North Dakota; daughter, Ivanie Nelson and her husband David of Billings; daughter, Allison Grosfield of Seattle, Washington; four great grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 25 at the Big Timber Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Alzheimer Association, the Pioneer Medical Center Assisted Living Project, or the Big Timber Lutheran Church.
