Evelyn was born Oct. 24, 1918, at her grandparent's home in Liberty Township in Dickinson County, KS. She was the firstborn of Herbert and Vera Adam Heller. Read More	ENTERPRISE -- Evelyn Frances Gugler, a resident of Enterprise Estates Nursing Center, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, in Enterprise, KS, at the age of 90. Evelyn was born Oct. 24, 1918, at her grandparent's home in Liberty Township in Dickinson County, KS. She was the firstborn of Herbert and Vera Adam Heller. The family lived on the Coyote Ranch in Morris County, east of Woodbine, KS, until Evelyn was 17 years old. She attended the Rohloff Grade School and Woodbine High School, and graduated from Chapman High School with the Class of 1936. She taught at the one-room rural schools of Prairie Cottage and Carry Creek, and attended Emporia State Teacher's College in the summers. She taught 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. She married Donald Preston Gugler on May 10, 1939, at the Lyona Church Parsonage, and he preceded her in death in 1985. She worked in food service at two local camps, and she also worked at the reception desk at Brown Memorial Home when she resided there. She was a member of the Lyona United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Ardis Gugler, of rural Woodbine; a son, Dean Gugler and his companion Fleur-Ange Lamothe, of Paris, Ontario, Canada; a daughter-in-law, Mary Gugler, of Portsmouth, VA; three sisters, Bernice Schaeffer, Dorothy Hartenstein and Ruth Beetch; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; a son, Bruce Gugler; a granddaughter, Dawn Gugler; and four siblings: Helen Baer, Wayne Heller, Betty Lay and Leona Mae Heller. The life of Evelyn Frances Gugler will be celebrated at the Lyona United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008. The family will have a private burial of the ashes at the Rinehart Cemetery.
