She was a lifelong resident of Haddonfield and a 1942 graduate of Haddonfield Memorial High School. She spent several years as a typist for International Christian Relief and was a former four time president of Rohrer Towers II, where she resided. As a member of Haddonfield Bible Church and Fellowship Alliance Chapel, she continued to teach Bible studies and support missionaries into her 90s. She was particularly proud of her visit to Israel in 1993. Married in 1947, she was the wife of the late Charles G Ellis, who passed away in 1988. She was also predeceased by her son Charlie in 1957 and her brothers Howard, Raymond, and Fritz. Surviving are daughters Betty (Jim) Hurley of Shamong and Nancy Ellis of Mount Laurel; granddaughters Jessica (Scott) Bogdan of Cherry Hill, Jill Hurley of Shamong, and Amanda Pitchko, of Philadelphia; and great-grandson Jack Ellis Kovalevich of Cherry Hill. Loved by all, she leaves behind an immeasurable amount of friends, several nephews and nieces, and Haley, Colton, and Carson, whom she adopted in her heart. She loved the Lord, her family, and sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Although she was never able to visit, she had a fondness for Norway, her mother's ancestral home. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral on April 20 from 9 to 11 AM at Fellowship Alliance Chapel, 199 Church Road, Medford, NJ 08055. Interment will be at Locustwood Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness. Published Obituary: Mount Laurel - Evelyn G "Daisy" Ellis (nee Holloway) passed away on April 14 at the age of 96. Known for her infectious smile and enthusiasm for life, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and pray[er] warrior. Born in Haddonfield, NJ [incorrect; see above] she was a 1942 graduate and three-sport athlete at Haddonfield High School. Daisy taught Sunday School and Bible studies for decades at Haddonfield Bible Church. At Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford, she served on the greeting and mission teams, and was a member of the JOY (Just Older Youth) group. At her Rohrer Towers residence in her later yeas, she served as president of the tenants organization and taught Bible study into her 94th year. In addition to friends and fellowship, she enjoyed reading, ardently rooting for the Eagles and Phillies, visiting Ocean City, and spending time with family. During holidays, her signature potato salad and turkey stuffing anchored the meal. She was a fun and feisty woman, and her laughter, hugs, and godly wisdom will be greatly, deeply missed. Daisy is survived by daughters Betty (Jim) Hurley, and Nancy Ellis; three granddaughters, Jessica (Scott) Bogdan, Jill Hurley, and Amanda Pitchko; great grandson Jack Kovalevich; and beloved nieces and nephews. Her husband Charles G Ellis and son Charlie predeceased her. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 20 9-11 AM in the Fellowship Alliance Chapel 199 Church Road, Medford, NJ. Funeral service at 11AM. Interment will follow in Locustwood Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home 127 Medford-Mount Holly Road, Medford, NJ.
