Description	:	Mrs. Evelyn L. Johns, 90, of the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the North Hills Passavant Hospital at 7:30 pm. Mrs. Johns was born on August 25, 1922 in East Palestine, Ohio, to the late Curtis C. and Nina Cunningham Lipp. She had graduated from the Petersburg High School in 1940, and had attended business school. Johns, 90, of the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the North Hills Passavant Hospital at 7:30 pm. Mrs. Johns was born on August 25, 1922 in East Palestine, Ohio, to the late Curtis C. and Nina Cunningham Lipp. She had graduated from the Petersburg High School in 1940, and had attended business school. Mrs. Johns worked as a bookkeeper for the Petersburg Creamery and later for Bob Baird Well Drilling. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. At her church, she had taught the Sunday School Nursery Class for over 30 years and was the director for the funeral dinners. She also had served on the church council, and sang in the church choir. Mrs. Johns enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and reading. Mrs. Johns is survived by her husband, Harold J. Johns, whom she married on May 23, 1953; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia (Frank) Podnar of Zelienople and Carol (James) Colao of Ellwood City; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis (Ruth) Johns of New Castle; seven grandchildren; Curtis (Amanda) Johns, Rev. Brandon (Christine) Johns, Brian (Danielle) Johns, Megan Podnar, Jessica Podnar, Brooke Colao and Theron Colao, and two great-grandchildren, Carson Colao and Lilly Johns. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law; Harold (Marian) Lipp of East Palestine, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Elizabeth Powers, and Eleanor Dykes, and one brother; Carl Lipp. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAMUEL TEOLIS FUNERAL HOME INC., 309 Spring Ave, Ellwood City, and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church. Services for Mrs. Johns will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Peggy Suhr-Barkley officiating. Interment will be at the Koch Cemetery in Unity, Ohio. Memorial contributions, in Mrs. Johns's name, may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Nursery Fund, 207 Spring Ave., Ellwood City, Pa 16117.
