Evelyn Hansen, 83, of Le Mars and formerly of South Sioux City, Neb., died Friday, July 23, 2004, atPlymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars. The former Evelyn Josephine Fiedler was born Jan. 8, 1921. in Le Mars, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Kintzle) Fiedler. She was raised in theOvens and Le Mars area and graduated from Le Mars Central High School. On April 17, l954, Evelyn married Marvin H. Hansen at Luverne, Minn. For the most part the couple lived their married lives in South Sioux City and had owned and operated the Pink Elephant and Marv's Tap. Evelyn also had worked in area grocery stores and in her later years she was a homemaker. Evelyn was an avid gardener and was a very good cook. She also was an enthusiastic sports fan and and enjoyed fishing with her husband. Survivors include her husband, Marvin of Le Mars; a sister Delphine Willms and her husband, Dick of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Allene Fiedler of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray Fiedler; three sisters: Mrs. Conrad (Viola) Nussbaum, Mrs. Cletus (Bernice) Mayrose, and Mrs. George (Margaret) Dirksen; and a nephew Doug Willms. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. William McCarthy presiding. Burial was in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Oyens. Visitation was after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, with a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Pallbearers were six nephews: George Dirksen, Mike Dirksen, Brad Dirksen, Mel David, Roger Nussbaum, and Gary Nussbaum.
