Hansen, 87, of Le Mars and formerly of South Sioux City, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, after suffering a heart attack on Monday. Hansen, 87, of Le Mars and formerly of South Sioux City, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, after suffering a heart attack on Monday. Marvin was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Sioux City, the son of Howard and Minnie (Vandersluis) Hansen. He entered the U.S. Army in April of 1942 and served overseas with the 132nd Hospital Unit as a hospital corpsman in New Guinea and was honorably discharged in November 1946. Marvin married Evelyn E. Fiedler on April 17, 1954, in Luverne, Minn. The couple farmed for a few years in the Oyens area, but most of their married lives they lived in South Sioux City, Neb., where they owned and operated the Pink Elephant Tavern and Motel and Marv's Tap. In his later years Marvin was employed with Newton Manufacturing as an advertising salesman. His wife Evelyn died July 23, 2004. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 10753, American Legion Post 307, South Sioux City Eagles Club, Moose Lodge 752, and was a lifetime member of the Y.M.C.A. He is survived by two sisters-in-law: Delphine Willms and her husband, Dick, of Le Mars, and Allene Fiedler of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; a brother, Ray; and a sister, Dorothy. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Oyens. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home, with the family present for one hour prior to the service.
