Description	:	Evelyn "Pat" Hallowell, 89, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died July 21, 2003, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility where she was recuperating from a hip fracture. She was born in Spragueville, May 19, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Tompkins) Patterson. She graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1932. She married Harry A. Hallowell, her beloved husband of 54 years on Oct. 14, 1939. He predeceased her on May 24, 1994. They made their home in Perham until October of 1988 at which time they relocated to Presque Isle. Mrs. Hallowell worked for many years at Doctor's Pharmacy in Caribou. During her years in Perham, she was an active member of the Perham Baptist Church, the Ladies Missions Circle, the WCTU and she was a Sunday School teacher. She had recently become a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Presque Isle. She was a wonderful cook and always had a meal ready for whoever dropped in. Harry and Pat's house always had hot coffee, a full cookie jar, and her famous pies to share with friends and family. She was an avid knitter and in her last years had knit many hats for the newborns at the Aroostook Medical Center. Surviving are a son, Larry D. Hallowell and his wife, Wanita, of Washburn; a daughter, Cynthia H. Curry of Scarborough; two grandsons, Peter D. Hallowell and his wife, Athena, of Presque Isle, Ryan J. Curry of Scarborough; two granddaughters, Trudi L. Parker and her husband, Joe, of New Gloucester, Alison R. McCormack and her husband, Daniel of Gorham; two great-granddaughters, Christina and Angela Hallowell of Presque Isle and a great-grandson, Bradley R. J. Parker of New Gloucester; one sister, Nina Kaye of Pasadena, Calif. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eight brothers, Ralph, Frank, Charles, Evard, Cecil, Theodore, Norman and Alfred Patterson; three sisters, Amy Duncan, Hazel Woodward and Alice Brooks; and her son-in-law, James T. Curry. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. Friends and relatives may call from 12 noon until time of service. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Perham.
