Description	:	"On December 31, 1995, Evelyn Lenor Curcio began a new life with Jesus Christ. She was born in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada on February 25, 1905 to Mr. & Mrs. Edward Nelson French. She spent her early years with her parents and eleven brothers adn sisters on a farm 40 miles west of Red Deer. She attended a one room school house, taught be one teacher who had the task of educating grades one through eight. Read More	"On December 31, 1995, Evelyn Lenor Curcio began a new life with Jesus Christ. She was born in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada on February 25, 1905 to Mr. & Mrs. Edward Nelson French. She spent her early years with her parents and eleven brothers adn sisters on a farm 40 miles west of Red Deer. She attended a one room school house, taught be one teacher who had the task of educating grades one through eight. In April 1920, her parents moved the family from Canada to the Moxee School District where she finished her education. She married Ralph Curcio on March 16, 1935 and they lived on South 7th Avenue in Yakima for 40 years. She was an immaculate homemaker and an avid gardener who loved to work in her yard. She enjoyed reading and doing art work and kept a family scrap book starting in 1925. Evelyn became a member of the Stone Church on November 3, 1968. She was a member of the W.M. for many years, and a helper for the funderal dinners during the 70's and 80's. She was on a committee for decorating the fellowship hall for Christmas parties. When the congregation moved into the church on West Chestnut in Yakima, she volunteered to help pain several rooms. She was the secretary/treasurer for the adult Sunday school for 25 years until 1994. She was also the van captain for the senior bus the last 7 years. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Ralph Curcio; her parents, two brothers Howard and Ernie French; four sisters, Bertha Beghin, Hazel Barrett, Effie Verstrate and Ella Tamburello. She is survived by her daughter, Tillie Apken of Yakima; a grandson Dennis Apken and wife, Janet of Vancouver, Wa; a granddaughter, Connie McNett and husband Steve of Selah; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Sturdevant of Forest Grove, OOR and Dorethea Evans of Yakima; two brothers, Ralph French of Selah and Harry French of Apache Junction, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. (Harry French passed away the following day from complications of pneumonia). Funeral services will be Thursday, January 4, 1996 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home in Yakima, conducted by Rev. Dale Carpenter and assisted by Rev. Wes Braaten. Interment will be at the Tahoma Cemetery next to her husband. The family requests remembrances (love gifts) be made to the Stone Church or the charity of your choice." --Yakima Herald Republic
