Description	:	OBIT: Evelyn Lois Colwell Sorensen, 88, died Sunday, January 17 at Kittitas Valley Rehabilitation Center in Ellensburg. She was born in Winchester, Idaho to Justus and Nellie Colwell. As a young child, Evelyn moved with her family to Ellensburg. Evelyn graduated from Ellensburg High School and attended the University of Washington where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Read More	OBIT: Evelyn Lois Colwell Sorensen, 88, died Sunday, January 17 at Kittitas Valley Rehabilitation Center in Ellensburg. She was born in Winchester, Idaho to Justus and Nellie Colwell. As a young child, Evelyn moved with her family to Ellensburg. Evelyn graduated from Ellensburg High School and attended the University of Washington where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated from the Washington Normal School--now CWU--with a degree in education. Evelyn's first job was teaching in the Manastah one-room school. She also taught at the Denmark School and various other one-room school houses. On October 24, 1936, she married Andrew Sorensen, and they lived on the Svend Sorensen family farm in the Denmark District. Andrew and Evelyn had two children, Henry Andrew Sorensen of Crescent, Georgia and Christine Sorensen Rosbach of Ellensburg. Evelyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years as well as a charter member of the Arvida Club, Eastern Star, 4-K club and several bridge clubs. Evelyn was known for her cooking skills, and was a master of presenting food in an elegant manor. Of all the activities, Evelyn's most meaningful accomplishments were her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marion Kaidera and Inez Billeter. Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter, five grandchildren, Andrew Rosbach of Portland, Oregon, Stephanie Rosbach of Ellensburg, Travis Rosbach of Ellensburg, Hank Sorensen of Belah, ND and Deruelle Sorensen of Jacksonville, FL. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 22 at the Steward and Williams Funeral Home. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Kittitas Public School Foundation, P.O. Box 399, Kittitas, Washington or a charity of your choice. Ellensburg Daily Record, January 18, 1999
