"Evie" (Mott) Brown Winter, 88, a former secretary and lifelong Montana resident, died of natural causes Saturday at her home in Kalispell. Survivors include her husband, Robert Winter of Kalispell; daughters Delores Hagerty of Seattle, Patricia Treadwell of Concrete, Wash., and Mary Jo Walter of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a son, Billy M. Brown of Browning; stepdaughters Roberta Winter and Juanita Rash of Kalispell and Kristina Hanley of Kirkland, Wash.; a stepson, Randall Winter of Kalispell; sisters Pearl Matt of Browning and Betty Olsen of Ronan; brothers Ernest "Bunny" Mutch of Cut Bank, Delbert Wilson of Browning and Lee Wilson of Great Falls; 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Evie was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Browning, Mont., to Alfred and Celina (Paul) Mott, and was raised and attended school in Browning. She married Vincent Brown in 1931 in Browning, and together they had five children. Evie and Vince were then divorced, and later she married Robert Winter on June 12, 1973, in East Glacier, Mont. She was a homemaker, and raised her family on a ranch on the South Fork of the Milk River. Evie was tribal office secretary for the Blackfeet Tribe, was employed as a school custodian for Browning Public School District No. 9, owned and operated a cafe in Browning, and was a bartender in East Glacier and Browning. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, cooking, home repairs, time with her family and telephone conversations. She was a member of the Eagles Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Bonnie Allison; a grandson, Rex Hagerty; and two great-grandsons, Jared Running Crane and Clintin Running Wolf. "
