Description	:	Evelyn Marie (Counts) McNair, daughter of Walter Jay and Clara Anna Rose (Reiser) Counts, was born October 28, 1920, on the family farm south of Butte, Nebraska. Evelyn died Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, South Dakota. Read More	Evelyn Marie (Counts) McNair, daughter of Walter Jay and Clara Anna Rose (Reiser) Counts, was born October 28, 1920, on the family farm south of Butte, Nebraska. Evelyn died Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, South Dakota. Evelyn attended rural school District #12 near the family home, and later graduated from Butte High School. On December 23, 1940, she was married to Floyd I. McNair at Butte, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with two children: Floyd Darold and Audrey Lynn. Evelyn and Floyd began their married lives on a ranch south of Atkinson, Nebraska, where they lived and worked for three years. When Floyd was called to serve his country during World War II, Evelyn moved to New Jersey, and later, North Carolina. After Floyd was discharged from the service, he and Evelyn returned to Boyd County, Nebraska, taking up farming southwest of Spencer in 1948. Besides a career of being a devoted farm wife and mother, Evelyn also had several jobs outside the home. She taught school for three years, worked at the Butte Health Care Center for four years, and as a grocery store clerk for 21 years. Evelyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spencer and the St. Mary's CCW. She also was a 50 year member of the Rural Community Club. In her free time, Evelyn was an avid gardener, loved flowers, knitting, and crocheting. She knitted and crocheted countless items, finding much joy in sharing them with those around her. Evelyn is survived by: son, Floyd Darold (wife Jeri) McNair; daughter, Audrey (husband Conrad) Graff; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers and one sister. Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn M. McNair, was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Spencer, Nebraska. Reverend Jeff Lorig was the Celebrant, with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Spencer, Nebraska.
