Read More	Jan 9, 1914 The Butte Gazette POPULAR YOUNG PEOPLE WED - WALTER JAY COUNTS AND MISS CLARA ANNA REISER WED WEDNESDAY Miss Clara Anna Reiser and Mr. Walter Jay Counts were joined in the holy bonds of wedlock, at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Butte, Nebraska on Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock on January 1, 1914. Rev. Father Straatmann performed the impressive ceremony. Miss Agnes Reiser, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid and Daniel Reiser, brother of the bride, was best man. The bride wore a beautiful dress of white brocade silk, with chiffon draping and long veil and carried a bouquet of white roses. The groom was dressed in the conventional black. The bridesmaid was exceedingly charming in an apricot brocade, silk dress and carried a bouquet of white carnations. Immediately after a sumptuous wedding breakfast, at the home of the bride's parents, the happy couple left on a wedding trip. They will spend a few days with Mr. Counts' mother, at Bonesteel, South Dakota, then go to Sioux City, Iowa and other eastern points. They will be at home to their many friends, February 1st, on the Mrs. Adolph Reiser's farm, a mile east of Butte, where they will make their future home. Clara is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reiser and is a beautiful and accomplished young lady, and will be a real helpmate to her husband. Mr. Counts is an energetic young farmer. That their future life may be as bright and calm as was their wedding morn, is the sincere wish of all for this worthy young couple. Obituary: Walter Jay Counts, a long time resident of Boyd County passed away Saturday June 7th, 1969 at the Lynch Hospital, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 29 days. Walter, the son of Jewett and Susan (Isom) Counts, was born Oct 8, 1888 at Castana, Iowa and came to Boyd County as a young man. On January 7, 1914 he was united in marriage to Clara Anna Reiser, (daughter of Joe & Mary Reiser) and they made their home 2 miles south of Butte until the passing of Mrs. Counts in 1949. To this union 5 children were born; Harry, who passed away in infancy, Raymond of Lynch, Evelyn (Mrs. Floyd McNair) of Spencer, Richard of Spokane, Wash, and Elaine (Mrs. Clayton Klasna) of Spencer. Following the death of of his wife Clara, Walt left the farm and moved to Burwell, NE. He was then united in marriage to Almena DesJarlais of Butte, and they made their home in Burwell for a number of years. Because of ill health, Almena Counts became a resident of the nursing home at Broken Bow and Walt moved to the Ponca Valley Nursing Court at Lynch to be near his children. Following a series of heart attacks, Mr. Counts entered the Butte Nursing Home, where he was cared for until the day before his passing, when he was transferred to the Lynch Hospital. Funeral services for Walter J. Counts were held June 10th at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Butte, with Father Rief officiating. Burial was made in the St Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Spencer, Nebraska. **June 26, 1969 Burwell Tribune newspaper
