Description	:	Evelyn "Merle" Cole went home to her Lord Jesus peacefully in her home April 13, 2013 at the blessed age of 86. Merle was born in Butte, Mont. in 1927 to Russel S. and Laura A. Fee, who preceded her in death. The family included an older brother, Neil (Sybil) Fee, both deceased; and a younger brother, Jim (Kim) Fee, who reside in Bremerton. Merle attended Silverdale High School, graduating in 1943. She later worked as a crane operator in the Bremerton Shipyard. Fee, who preceded her in death. The family included an older brother, Neil (Sybil) Fee, both deceased; and a younger brother, Jim (Kim) Fee, who reside in Bremerton. Merle attended Silverdale High School, graduating in 1943. She later worked as a crane operator in the Bremerton Shipyard. Merle then married Jerry Cole in 1946, beginning a long and successful love story and Naval-wife career. Her devoted husband sadly preceded her in death. Together they enjoyed three daughters: Christy (Bob) Blagg of Ohio, Connie (Joe) Welsh of California, and Karen (Reggie) Peralta of Washington; and were blessed with two granddaughters, Nikki Constantino of California and Angela Peralta of Washington, and two step-granddaughters, Kim Blagg and Julie Henestofel, both of Ohio. Merle retired after working several years in the office of the Bremerton Kmart. Merle and Jerry were devoted square dancers, forming enduring, wonderful friendships through their association with Square Steppers and Dudes and Dolls clubs. For many years they enjoyed campout retreats, endless potlucks, ocean shore weekends, Reno bus trips, and card club parties with loving, incredibly fun-filled square dance friends. Once widowed, Merle continued with these loyal friendships and activities. New endeavors found her volunteering at the YMCA with special needs children. She joined the Harrison Medical Center Auxiliary, serving many years in the Bremerton gift shop. The friendships formed and time spent there brought her great joy! At home, Merle enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and planning her next adventure. She loved travel and embraced new experiences! A few years ago, Merle relocated to a senior apartment home where she was blessed with an amazing group of new friends! She loved the marvelous residents and staff and the close-knit extended family they represent. Her time there was filled with trips to concerts and plays, card games, entertainment and fun-filled parties — enjoyment galore! Merle's family extends sincere thanks to everyone who reached out with faithful prayers, cards, love and concern. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Hospice of Kitsap County for their support and loving caregiving. Our never ending love &and thanks to the special God-sent family friend, Kathi David. Arrangements are being handled be Lewis Funeral Chapel with inurnment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Private services will be held at a later date.
