Description	:	Evelyn (Murren) Briggs (1931-2012) Evelyn was born Aug. 27, 1931 at Hepburn to Earl and Edith (Riggle) Murren. She graduated Clarinda High School in 1949. Evelyn was united in marriage to Edwin Briggs Jan. 1, 1959. Beginning in 1952 until 1965 Evelyn worked in the telephone office in Clarinda. After the telephone job, she sewed at O'Brien's in Bedford from 1965 until 1974. She then was an Avon representative for 20 years until retiring in 1993. She was active in the New Market Church of Christ, Women Who Care and Birthday clubs. ... She is survived by husband Edwin Briggs of New Market; step-daughter Linda Baedke of Ankeny and grandson Jeffrey Baedke and wife Stephanie and their daughter Olivia, all of Ankeny; sisters: Maxine Anderson of Bellevue, Neb., and Charlotte Mallott and husband Sheridan of Omaha, Neb. Evelyn passed away Wednesday Sept 5, 2012 at Oakland Manor, Oakland, Iowa following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Edith Murren; sisters Lorraine Miller and Velma Snodgrass; and brothers Clifford, Cleo and Larry Murren. Funeral services for Evelyn were held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home. Interment followed the service in the Guss Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Guss Cemetery, New Market Rescue, or New Market Church of Christ. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home provided arrangements.
