Evelyn was born on August 8, 1917, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, the youngest of four children and the daughter of John and Rose (Burk) Kramer. Read More	Evelyn Ruth Meier, 92, of Denver, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. Evelyn was born on August 8, 1917, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, the youngest of four children and the daughter of John and Rose (Burk) Kramer. She attended a one room country school and graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1935. She worked in the office at Rath Packing in Waterloo. Evelyn was united in marriage to Herbert Meier in 1937 and together they owned and operated Crain Creek Creamery, collecting cream and producing butter. Later she worked in Dr. Stumme's office in Denver and then for Dr. DellaMaddelena's office in Waterloo. Evelyn was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger and supported the Ladies Aid, L.W.M.L. and many other activities at church and school. She enjoyed piecing quilts and cross-stitching quilt blocks, which resulted in many quilts being produced for various churches and charities projects. She lived in the Denver Senior Citizens Housing after Herbert died. She enjoyed the company of many good friends and relatives and also visiting many lifelong friends and neighbors at the Denver Sunset Home. She was blessed with great health, a sharp mind, and the ability to drive her own vehicle and live independently until her death. Evelyn was an avid sports enthusiast, especially the Iowa universities and her beloved Cubbies, and also enjoyed bowling until the last couple of years. Evelyn is survived by her son, Larry Meier and his wife, Pat of Midland Michigan; her daughter, Marilyn Davenport and her husband, Ron of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Cheryl (Rick) Brown; Keith (Lisa) McCready; Cynthia (John) Pinar and Christopher (Heather) Meier; eight great grandchildren, Katie and Josh Brown, Nick, Ellie and Claire Pinar; Will and Charlie Meier and Connor McCready. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert in 1980, one sister, Ramona Kramer, two brothers, Roy and Kenneth Kramer and a grand-daughter Carmen McCready. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger, rural Readlyn, Iowa. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Klinger. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, Denver. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the donor's charity of choice.
