Description	:	Evelyn V. Poncy, 85, of 318 S. Willard St., died June 12, 2011, at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Ottumwa to Ivan and Ella Schmidt Millard. She married Paul E. Poncy June 18, 1944. He preceded her in death May 28, 1998. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, she was a homemaker. Evelyn was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, flowers, bowling and spending time with her family. Surviving are five daughters, Linda(Steve)Mulcahy of Ottumwa, Paula James of Ankeny, Mary Baker and Chris Appleby, both of Ottumwa, and Rose(Joe)Briggs of Monroe; a son, Joe(Billie)Poncy of Knob Noster, MO.; a son-in-law, Harley Crummett of Washington, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ellen(Clair)Fleener of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Crummett; her parents; three brothers, Tom, Barney and Buddy Millard; and four sisters, Mary Lennon, Anna Hagenl, Mae Wilson and Donna Huff. Funeral Mass will be 10 am Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 pm Wednesday. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
