Description	:	Eureka and community were greatly grieved by the sudden passing of Everett J. Marshall, prominent banker and stockman, who died at his home here early Monday morning. Read More	Eureka and community were greatly grieved by the sudden passing of Everett J. Marshall, prominent banker and stockman, who died at his home here early Monday morning. His death is a great blow, not only to his immediate family, but to the citizenry of the community in which he worked and lived his entire life. Everett J. Marshall was born at Harveysburg, Indiana November 26, 1885. He was the oldest child of Elwood and Cordella Marshall. His parents moved during his early infancy to Greenwood county, Kansas and settled on a farm north of Eureka. A few years latter, they moved to Eureka where he made his home. After his elementary education in rural and public schools, he attended Southern Kansas Academy at Eureka, and later attended business school in Quincy, Illinois. He had been engaged in farming and the cattle business since he was 21 years old, and also had been active in the Home National Bank of Eureka since 1913, from which he retired as active vice-president in 1942 because of other diversified interests. In 1910 he was married to Inez Rice, and from this union, two sons were born. He is survived by his wife, Inez Marshall, his son, Wilbur, both of Eureka, and his son Elwood of Baldwin Park, California. In addition, he is survived by three grandchildren, Robin of Eureka, Lisa and Maria of California, and two sisters, Hazel Smith of Eureka, and Ima Nye of Oklahoma City, as well as by several nieces and nephews. On April 21, at 12:30 a.m. he was stricken with a heart attack, the culmination from which he had been suffering for several years. He was unusually devoted to his home and family and his many friends, and to the last, was vitally interested in banking and livestock in Greenwood county to the extent that his health permitted. Relatives from out-of-town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Burt Rice, Ruidoso, New Mexico; Clark Nye and Marshall Nye, Oklahoma City; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rice, Omega, Kansas; Mrs. George W. Gould, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Marshall and family from Baldwin Park, California. Funeral service was held from Baird Funeral Home this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 p.m. Entombment was in Greenwood Abbey. Eureka Herald newspaper
