Cole Dies Saturday Excell I. Cole, Deadwood, died Saturday night at St. Joseph's Hospital. He had been ill with a heart condition for several months. A resident of Deadwood for more than 30 years, he was born Jan. 27, 1893 at Galena, Kan. He attended schools in Galena and Lead. He was employed at mines In Butte, Mont., and in Lead. For several years, he was a car dealer in Deadwood. He was a member of the Deadwood Lodge No. 508, B. P. O. Elks and the Black Hills Post No. 5969 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and an ardent fisherman and hunter. He was a World War I veteran. He is survived by his wife, Agnes, Deadwood. His parents and a brother, Lloyd preceded him In death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wells Funeral Home chapel In Deadwood. Rev. Kenneth Wiley of the First Methodist Church will conduct the rites. Military graveside rites and Interment will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery. Cole were held Wednesday afternoon at the Wells Funeral Home chapel with the Rev Kenneth Wiley, of the First Methodist Church, Deadwood, officiating. Services were also conducted by members of the Deadwood Lodge No. 508 B.P.O. Elks. Mrs. Robert Ruth sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle on Somewhere." Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Lannen, Walter Eilbeck, Joe and Bud Abrahams, Laverne Bagley and J. C. Gorum. All other friends were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
