Barnes, son of John and Catherine Barnes, was born on a farm in Pleasant County, West Virginia, August 27, 1867, and grew to manhood on the farm. Barnes, son of John and Catherine Barnes, was born on a farm in Pleasant County, West Virginia, August 27, 1867, and grew to manhood on the farm. He then started out to learn a trade for himself, and took up the construction of clay pots, later finding a position with Gills Clay Products Co., and was for almost forty years in their employ, only giving up his work when his recent illness set in. He was always dependable, and a conscientious workman, most agreeable and congenial with the men with whom he worked. He was a man of high ideals, his moral conduct was always above suspicion. In the community where he lived, he was a neighborly neighbor, and a real asset to the neighborhood; his home and premises were always reflecting the spirit of the man, presenting a pleasing and attractive appearance. He loved his home and family, and when not at work, was at home. He was a good provider and a wise counselor. His sympathy and support, morally and financially, was always given every constructive movement and institution. In October, in the year 1898, he was married to Della L. Pittsenbarger of Versailles, Ohio, and for 33 years these two have lived happily together, toiling and sharing together the joys and burdens of life and family, for their home was blessed with two sons who were ever the chief joy of their father, and during his recent illness they were his abiding comfort, no husband and father could ask for more affectionate and sympathetic nursing and care than Mrs Barnes and these two noble sons have rendered for these past months--and it was on the morning of the first day of July, while they were watching so tenderly by, that his spirit bade farewell to its temple of clay and was wafted to God who gave it. He passed away at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 4 days. He seemed to sense the seriousness of his sickness, and came to the end of his journey calmly, thoughtfully and prepared. He talked over with his family the matter of his funeral and affairs that would come up after his going. He had made his peace with God and was ready to take his departure. Prayers and devotion were had at his bedside on different occasions, and every wish of his was granted; and today his family can appreciate as never before, the beautiful words of Ellen Wheeler Wilcox: [poem deleted]. Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Della; two sons, Herbert W. and Harlan E.; two grandsons, Eugene and Bobby; also one aged brother, T. R. Barnes, of West Virgin- ia, who made a visit here a short time ago, but is unable to be present on this occasion. Besides these immediate relatives, he also leaves a host of friends and admirers, both in Muncie and Versailles, O., where he was so well known, and where his body will be laid to rest in the family plot in Greenlawn Cemetery. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren Church, Muncie, Indiana, the Rev. L. Blake officiating. THOSE ATTENDING THE FUNERAL OF E. L. BARNES Among those who attended the funeral of E. L. O. Billman, of Ridgeville, Ind.; Mrs. Geo. Cyphers, Mrs. S. E. Pittsenbarger, and son Earl, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pittsenbarg- er and son Ralph, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Pittsenbarger, Mr. and Mrs. C. C.
