He was born at Clermont, the son of Sarah Dixon Dibble and Martin Van Dibble on Sept. 26, 1878. On January 14, 1908 he was united in marriage to Helen Frances Wander and farmed the old Dibble farm for many years. He retired in Oct., 1948 and moved to Clermont. His education was obtained in the Clermont public schools and was a life long resident of this community . He was a member of the Episcopal Church and faithfully served as warden for many years . He belonged to t he Modern Woodmen of America, served on the Clermont Creamery board, was township trustee and for many years served as judge of the election board. Survivors are his wife, Helen, a n d six children , De Francis , Mrs. Lloyd Edwards of Spokane, Wash . ; Phyllis, Mrs. Ronald Kelly of Kansas City; Lovella, Mrs. Gordon Shepard of Phoenix; Helen, Mrs. Robert Smith of Huron , S. Dak . ; Jan e of Newport News , Va. and Jack at Clermont; a brother , Arthur of Spokane; four sisters; Mrs. Jesse Triem and Mrs. Rose Anderson of Clermont ; Mrs. Grace Lattin of Spokane and Mrs. Kittie Kern of Oelwein ; also eight grandchildren, David, Janice and Arlene Edwards ; Sharon and Judy Shepard ; Barbara Kelleg and Zoe Ann and Leon Dibble., Two sisters, Gussie and Mrs. Lillie Crowe preceeded him in death. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Frank Shaffer of Cedar Falls in the Church of Our Savior in Clermont, at 2:00 o'clock, Wednesday. December 12. Pallbearers were Clem Kneeland, Alfred Olson, Bill Miller, Louie Amundson, Bill Calahan, and Ed Burt.
