Description	:	EZRA R. MORGAN, Jr. Ezra R. Morgan was born June 3,1923 to Ezra and Marian Morgan of Laing, WV. Mr. Morgan served in the United States Air Force 15th Division as a radio operator and gunner on a B-25 during W.W.II from January 8, 1943 to November 13, 1945. On his fifth mission over Hungary his plane was shotdown. While parachuting down he was separated from the rest of the crew and was captured. MORGAN, Jr. Ezra R. Morgan was born June 3,1923 to Ezra and Marian Morgan of Laing, WV. Mr. Morgan served in the United States Air Force 15th Division as a radio operator and gunner on a B-25 during W.W.II from January 8, 1943 to November 13, 1945. On his fifth mission over Hungary his plane was shotdown. While parachuting down he was separated from the rest of the crew and was captured. He was interrogated for 12 days, transported by boxcar to Frankfort, Germany and then to near Berlin. He was later part of a forced march to near Misberg, Germany, arriving the day President Roosevelt died. He was a German prisoner of war from November 5, 1943 to April 29, 1945. Part of this time he was in solitary confinement and lived in a tent without food, often for up to 4 days at a time. After completing his military service, Mr. Morgan attended Marion College, Marion, Indiana (now Indiana Wesleyan University) where he met Ailene Woodhams. They were married June 7, 1947. Mr. Morgan attended Asbury Theological Seminary, earning Bachelor of Divinity and Master of Divinity degrees. He taught at Miltonvale Wesleyan College, Miltonvale, KS for six years, and then pursued his PhD degree at Kansas University. He was ordained in the Wesleyan (Methodist) Church and pastored at New Hope and Bethany Chapel Wesleyan Churches in Kansas. He taught at Roberts Wesleyan College near Rochester, NY for 24 years until he retired in 1982. Mr. Morgan's wife, Ailene Woodhams Morgan, preceded him in death on May 2, 1992. He married Virginia Beckett on November 22, 1993. Mr. Morgan loved to joke and tease.He enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing and spent many summers camping in New York, Canada, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North and South Carolina. He died on April 30, 2007 at the James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital, Tampa, Florida. Memorial Services are being held Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Light and Life Free Methodist Church, Lakeland, FL and Sunday, May 5, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at The Wesleyan Church, Clay Center, KS. Interment will be at the Clay Center Cemetery, Clay Center, KS.
