Description	:	William F. Beck, a lifetime Tipton county resident and one time sheriff, died at Mercy hospital in Elwood at 4 o'clock this morning following a brief illness. Although in ill health for several years Mr. Beck did not become seriously ill until last Thursday. He was taken to the hospital Saturday for treatment of pneumonia that developed Monday. The body was removed to Young's funeral home and will lie in state there from 7 o'clock tonight until the time of services. Mr. Heck was born January 27, 1870, the son of Francis and Sara (Doversberger) Beck, on the Beck homestead southwest of Tipton. The home in which he was born is now occupied by his brother, Charles Beck. \| He was married to Elizabeth Sandmann, member of a pioneer Tipton county family, who died two years ago last June. He served as county sheriff for two terms between, 1900 and 1912 and for many years was associated with George Schulenborg in the implement business, first at the J. A. Gleason building (the old skating rink) on North Main street and later in the Odd Fellows building on East Jefferson, now occupied by Compton & Son. In recent years he had resided south of Tipton on his farm. Survivors include the brother, Charles Beck and a sister, Mrs. Wilmer Doversberger, near Tipton; two sons, Roy Beck and Ralph Beck, of Tipton; two daughters, Elizabeth at home, and Gladys Hiatt, Noblesville. A third son, Walter, died in Arkansas a year ago. There are three grandchildren.
