Mrs. Thompson had been an invalid for several years. On Aug. 6, 1930, she suffered a broken hip, and since Easter, 1932, had been confined to her bed. Mrs. Thompson had been an invalid for several years. On Aug. 6, 1930, she suffered a broken hip, and since Easter, 1932, had been confined to her bed. As Fanney Mackey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mackey, she was born Oct. 18, 1855, near Center Point. She was married at Cedar Rapids Nov. 29, 1877, to Chester Thompson and they began housekeeping at Cedar Rapids, and later lived at Linn Juction, Western, Elberon, Bertram, Luzerne, Andover, Randall and Marion, Mr. Thompson being a telegraph operator and station agent for about forty-five years. They moved to Marion Sept. 18, 1924, and since then have lived in Mr. Thompson's childhood home, which they remodeled. Four children were born to them, Pearl dying in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving day, 1927. Mr. Thompson was killed in Chicago Feb. 8, 1930, and since that time, Mrs. Thompson has been cared for by her son, William. She was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are three sons, Fred L., of Detroit; William of Marion, Harley of Santa Cruz, Calif.; four grandchildren, Vivien McBride of Detroit; Catherine Metzger of Des Moines; Kenneth and Betty Opal Thompson of Santa Cruz, four great-grandchildren, Donnie and Jean McBride, of Detroit, and Roma and Billie Metzger of Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the family home, 209 Ninth street. The Rev. William E. Fisher, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will officiate.
