Fannie (Lundy) Dunkerson was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, November 4, 1872, as the daughter of George Lundy and his wife Louisa nee Lathrop, and died June 4, 1930, at the age of 57 years and 7 months. On July 1, 1896, she was united in marriage with Mark L. Dunkerson, the ceremony being performed by the Congregational minister of Fontanelle. Ever since that time they have been residents of this community, making their home on a farm south of Fontanelle. They are the parents of twelve children, all of whom survive their mother. For years Mrs. Dunkerson was afflicted with heart disease, which about six weeks ago became of such a serious nature that she was compelled to cease work. An attempt was made to rally her failing strength at the hospital at Iowa City, but it was of no avail, and she passed away shortly before 7 o'clock on the morning of June 4. Her husband, who had been with her during those trying days, was called to fulfill the sad duty of bringing home the mortal remains of his beloved wife. The center of a happy family has been taken away. Many friends and good neighbors will miss her sorely, but most of all the family circle including husband, children and grandchildren. The children are: Orville, Mabel Dunn, Clarence, Lewis, Malvern, James and Pearlene, of Fontanelle; Dewey, of Shannon City; Goldie Smart and Paul, of Orient; Cecil, of Sigourney; Ollie Wallace, of Greenfield. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters; Guy Lundy, Kent, Iowa; Lafe Lund, North Dakota; Arvella Jones and Rosie Lundy, Greenfield. Two brothers, G. W. Lundy and Cal O. Lundy, died several years ago.
