Brodeen Fannie Marie Brodeen, daughter of John and Ruth Huston Boyer, was born Oct. 26, 1882 near Douds, Ia., and departed this life Monday, Oct. 22 at her home in Troy at the age of 79 years. On Nov. 26, 1903, she was married to Charles Brodeen. Their entire married life was spent in the Troy community where she was active in community affairs as long as her health permitted. Mr. and Mrs. Brodeen were one of three couples married on the same day in the same community in 1903 and for many years they and the other two couples, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lagle and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Shaffer celebrated their anniversaries together. Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Muir of Keosauqua; Mrs. Ruth Smart of Albia; sons-in-law, LaMar Muir and Boyd Smart; three granddaughters, Mrs. Frances Jeannie Johnson of Brainerd, Minn., Mrs. Sharlene Luke of Agnecy and Susan Smart of Albia; one grandson, Robert Muir of Des Moines; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Brodeen's primary interests were her home and family and was especially fond of her grand and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral home in Douds with Rev. Harold Day officiating.
