Description	:	George W. Boyer George Boyer, son of John and Ruth Boyer was born March 15, 1855 (sic typo either in original obit or in the transcribed obit). He departed this life June 26, 1937, in the Ottumwa Hospital at the age of 52 years, 3 months, 11 days. He was united in marriage to Bessie Morrow, January 16, 1914. In just 15 months she was called to her heavenly home. On March 6th, 1918 he was united in marriage to Katherine Smith of Kilbourne. To this union were born two sons, John 16, and Richard 12. George was a member of the Masonic and OES Lodges for many years. Besides operating a large farm, has been employed by Silberman and Son of Chicago. In his many contacts with so many people he will leave a great number of friends. He leaves to mourn, his wife Katherine, two sons, John and Richard, his mother, Mrs. J.O. Boyer, a sister, Mrs. Chas. Brodeen, two nieces, Mrs. LaMar Muir of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Boyd Smart, Moulton, Iowa, two uncles, Spar Huston, Mt. Sterling, Iowa and Harry Boyer, McAllen, Texas. A host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Douds M.E. Church in charge of Rev. W.S. Moore assisted by E.L. Chader. Masonic services were held at the graveside by Celestial lodge No. 413 of Douds under direction of John Drake of Ottumwa. Interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
