March 22, 1973 - Carroll Daily Times - Funeral services for Mrs. Albert (Fay) Wegner, 80, of 1516 North Adams Street, Carroll, will be held in the First Presbyterian Church here at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 7:30 p.m. Thursday. On Saturday, the casket will be taken to the church at 11:30 a.m. for viewing until the hour of rites, and there will be a family prayer service at 1:15 p.m. The Rev. Allan M. Peterson will officiate at the rites. Mrs. Wegner died Wednesday morning, March 21, at the Carroll Health Center after a long illness. She was born Sept. 22, 1892 in Louisa County, a daughter of J. Carmichael and Lucy Ann Brown Duncan. Following her graduation from Mt. Pleasan High School she attended Wesley Methodist College for three years and completed her college work in education at Cedar Falls. She taught school in Iowa for several years and also in Louisville, Ky. In 1919 and 1920 she taught in the Carroll Public School. She was a member of Alpha Z Delta sorority. Her marriage to Mr. Wegner took place Sept. 29, 1923, at the home of her parents at Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Meyers officiating, and they have made their home in Carroll. Mrs. Wegner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and United Presbyterian Women. For many years she taught Sunday School, and was superintendent of the junior department for ten years, during which time she coached several plays for mission projects. Survivors include her husband; a brother, Floyd C. Duncan of Iowa City; two sisters, Ruth Ann Duncan of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Joe (Laura) Doe of San Jose, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wegner was preceded in death by an infant daughter and another daughter, Ann, in 1942; and by two sisters. A memorial fund for the Iowa Crippled Children's Association has been established in Mrs. Wegner's name.
