Description	:	Ferdinand immigrated to the U.S. with his wife, Terese, and 11 month old twins, Ernst and Martha, arriving in Baltimore, Maryland on 7 Apr 1879 aboard the ship "Ohio", they were traveling to Nebraska according to ship manifest. Ferdinand married Minna Norisch on 1 Nov 1883 in Cuming county, they were married by F.A. Mewis, Co. Judge (marriage book 2, page 140). They moved to Sheridan co, NE and then Bristow, Nebr. and farmed until retirement when they moved into Spencer. Ferd and Minnie had children: Anna, Martha, Lena, Minnie and William. The following obituary was graciously shared with us by family member & researcher Corinne (Wendt) Jacox: Ferdinand August Wendt was born December 24, 1851, in Brendenburg, Germany, and came to this country in 1879, locating at West Point, Neb. He was united in marriage to Minnie Noriesch on November 1, 1853. In the year 1886 they moved to Rushville, Nebr., where they homesteaded. They lived there until the year 1901 when they moved to Boyd county and since that time have resided here. Six children were born to this union: Mrs. Claude Smith of California, Mrs. August E. Pahl of Bristow, Mrs. Ernie Coleman of Spencer; Mrs. Minnie Fry of Casper, Wyo.; Ernest of Rushville, and William of Gross. In addition to the mother and children, there are left to mourn his death, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Wendt passed away August 1, 1935, at his home in Spencer, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 8 days. He was a member of the German Lutheran church, and the day before he died, he had received the Holy Communion. He will be sadly missed by his faithful wife, the children and many friends of the community. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. V. Davis at the home and at the United Lutheran church on August 3rd, and interment was made at the Union cemetery. (Spencer Advocate, 8 August 1935, p. 1)
