Read More	The Valley Falls Vindicator, 21 Feb 1985, p 8, c 7 FERD "WHISTLE" DELK Ferd "Whistle" Delk, 90, Valley Falls, died Feb. 15 at the Cherokee Lodge, Oskaloosa. Mr. Delk first worked with brother, Ampie Delk, who was a horse and mule trader. He later was a car salesman for Murray-Heer Garage and Anderson Ford, both at Valley Falls, a Dodge dealer in Leavenworth and Foster Ford ot Horton when he retired. He continued to trade horses until about five years ago. He was born April 7, 1894, at Syracuse, KY., the son of George and Gertrude Huff Delk. He came to Valley Falls with his parents at the age of 4 years and lived in Valley Falls the rest of his life. Mr. Delk was a charter member of the Valley Falls Saddle Club. He was married to Ethel C. Thompson Nov. 12, 1915, at Topeka. She died May 25, 1983. Survivors include a brother, Perk Delk, Winchester; a niece, Dorothy Delk Diehl; and a nephew, George Delk. Services were Feb. 19 at Nellis-Hagge Funeral Home, Valley Falls. Burial was in the Valley Falls Cemetery. The Rev. Wilbur Purvis, minister of the First United Methodist Church, Valley Falls, officiated at the service. Mrs. Dale Jepson was organist and Norman Nellis, soloist. Pallbearers were Dale Metzger, Lloyd Lewton, Raymond Foster, Charles Beatty, Daryl Ford, and Lawrence Ferrell.
