Penwell of this city and was taken to the Milliken home on Sunday preceding her death. She had been ill from the flu and complication from that illness resulted in her death. Surviving relatives are her five sister; Mrs. May Jones of Eureka; Mrs. A.J. Hadlock of Elk City; Mrs. H.F. Long of Lawrence; Mrs. Alfred Gregg of Piedmont, and Mrs. V.A. Boone of Neal. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Bert V. Sutton of the Christian Church, will be held from the Baird Funeral Home Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Intermennt will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. From Eureka Herald 6 March 1941 page 1. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fern Charlotte Stringham was born in Eureka, Kansas, September 6, 1890, a daughter of J.S. and Martha E. Stringham. She grew to womanhood, attending the Eureka schools. In childhood she became a member of the Eureka Christian Church where she served faithfully until leaving Eureka. She began her business life in the George Smith Department Store, then located on North Main Street, later assisting in the H.G. Madison and M.A. Miller Stores. In May 1922 she with her father and mother went on a vacation trip to California, where she accepted a position in the Webb Store in Glendale. She remained there after her parents return to Kansas until April 1938, when she returned home because of failing health. In the homes of her sisters or wherever she was her hands were never idle. Fern was taken suddenly ill Sunday afternoon and passed away Wednesday morning March 5, 1941, at the home of a niece, Mrs. Herman Milliken, in Eureka. The parents and two older sister preceded her in death, Surviving relatives are her five sisters; Mrs. May Jones, of Eureka, Mrs. A.J. Haslock, of Elk City, Mrs. H.F. Long, of Lawrence, Mrs. Alfred Gregg, og Piedmont, and Mrs. V.A. Boone, of Neal. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Bert V.
