New York police listed the death as a suicide. No notes were found. The body of Mrs. Butcher, clad in a nightgown, was found by Norman J. Edelman, president of a publicity firm. He said he had dined with the former Sioux City woman Wednesday night and that she seemed nervous and depressed. — Sometimes Homesick — In Sioux City, Robert Coover, brother of Mrs. Butcher, said the family had no idea what might have prompted her to take her own life. He said she corresponded regularly with her parents. The last letter, he declared, was received about a week or 10 days ago. The brother said Mrs. Butcher's letters sometimes showed that she was a "little homesick." Mrs. Butcher was listed by the Associated Press as a model and former dancer. Her brother said she had danced, but that he had not known she was a model. She used the name Jacqueline Butcher in New York. Her husband, he added, was a radio executive, formerly connected with the Walter Winchell broadcasts. — Injured in Accident — Mr. Edelman, the Associated Press said, told police Mrs. Butcher had been scarred in an automobile accident about 10 years ago. Her appearance was restored through plastic surgery. Her brother said the accident occurred near New York. Mrs. Butcher had worked recently as a demonstrator for a beauty culture firm, the press dispatch stated. She was born September 5, 1912, at Marengo, Ia., and was graduated from the Hornick high school. She came to Sioux City in 1928 and went to New York two years later. Survivors besides the parents include two other brothers, Jay and Thomas, and a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Dilley, all of Sioux City. The body will be brought to Sioux City for funeral services and burial. It will be taken to the Rutledge funeral home.
