Ferne was born February 27, 1923 in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Aca and Sidna (Frazee) Thomas. Ferne was born February 27, 1923 in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Aca and Sidna (Frazee) Thomas. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Dwight Metheny; Carlo Petrucci, her second husband; her brother Clayton Thomas; and Ronald Metheny, her son. Ferne was a member of United Christian Church where she served as organist and pianist for services and funerals. She also proudly worked into her 80’s. She found tremendous fulfillment taking care of the families she held so dear. She was a beloved addition to the many families she provided services for. She enriched their lives by providing great comfort, and will be sadly missed by all those she touched. Left to cherish her memory are her children Crystal Shamrock and husband, Daniel, and Brenda Sabatini and husband Joseph; daughter-in-law, Jamie Metheny; her sister Bernadette Martin and husband George; Her grandchildren Todd Metheny and wife Amy, Ryan Metheny, Charles Blaniar and wife Jeanne, Jason Blaniar and wife Amanda, Krista Wingrove and husband Kevin, Dorothy Shamrock and fiancé Chris Glagola, Brigitta Smith and husband Jason, and Rose Sabatini; Great-grandchildren Kira Metheny, Morgan Blaniar, Abigail Wingrove, Emily Wingrove, Molly Wingrove, Kaine Blaniar, Echo Blaniar, Eli Blaniar, Stormie Blaniar, Ryan and Sadie Glagola, Iyana Smith, Sy Smith, and Syd Smith. Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 10-11 am in the United Christian Temple. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am with her pastor, Rev. Galen Weinbrenner officiating. Interment will be private for the family in the Blooming Rose cemetery in Friendsville, MD. A special thank you to the management and staff of Peroni’s Personal Care Home and the Lafayette Manor. Donations may be made to the United Christian Temple.
