Buoy, a pioneer of the Oregon Country died at her home in Elberton, Wa. 11/10/1925 from an attack of pneumonia at the age of 83 years 2 months and 18 days. Fidelia Douglass was born near Huntington, Indiana, 8/23/1842. She came of pioneer stock, her parents John Douglass and Elizabeth LeFevre Douglass having been pioneers of the Philadelphia Country in Pennsylvania. By 1852 they began their long worrisome trip across the plains by ox team. Measles, smallpox and cholera hindered their progress and the mother finally succumbed to an attack of pneumonia. Arriving in Oregon, Mrs. Buoy made her home with a sister at Albany, later going to Cottage Grove where she was united in marriage to Thomas P. Buoy, 4/25/1858. They made their home for several years near Creswell, Oregon, then lived for almost 30 years near Gresham, Oregon, coming to Elberton, Wash. 17 years ago in 1908, where the husband died three years ago, 1922. Surviving Mrs. Buoy are 8 children, J.A. of Elberton, J.G. of Wendling, Oregon, S.F. of Ostrander, Wa., C.M. of California, Mrs. Fred Petersen (Della) of Alderdale, Wa., Mrs. Philip R.
