She was born August 18, 1914 in Newark, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Tina Saunders Barnes. She married Cecil Caldwell on August 28, 1935 in Wyaconda, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1965. She had lived in Keokuk since 1942 and was an Avon representative for over 30 years and had worked at Shellor-Globe, Swift & Company, and Shaeffer Pen. Caldwell, 89, of Keokuk, died at 1:40 PM Friday afternoon, August 13, 2004 at River Hills Village in Keokuk. She was born August 18, 1914 in Newark, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Tina Saunders Barnes. She married Cecil Caldwell on August 28, 1935 in Wyaconda, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1965. She had lived in Keokuk since 1942 and was an Avon representative for over 30 years and had worked at Shellor-Globe, Swift & Company, and Shaeffer Pen. In later years she was a care provider and sitter. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served on the first Deaconess Board and as superintendent of Bible School several times. She loved working with children. She enjoyed cooking, quilt making, collecting dolls, and making doll clothing and giving them to children. She also enjoyed playing Karem and croquet. She is survived by daughter, Bernice Vinson of Powdertown, Iowa and her children, Ed & Judy Vinson of Powdertown, Terry & Darla Vinson of Argyle, Mark & Jan Vinson of Jefferson City, Missouri and David Vinson of Powdertown; son, Richard Harrison Caldwell, Sr. of Burlington, Iowa, his children, Chad Caldwell & Richard Caldwell Jr. of Burlington, Iowa, and Adam & Ventura Sirtak of Burlington; and daughter, Linda Ganley and her husband, Joe, of Iowa City, Iowa, her children, Stephanie Anderson of Iowa City, Iowa, and Michael Ransford of Keokuk; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Fordney of Memphis, Missouri; and three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, and a sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Thomas officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park.
