Flora Christy Benge Flora Christy Benge died at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Jonathan Christy, March 22, 1897. Mrs. Benge was born November 26, 1858 (1868), in Davis county, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage with Chester Benge, November 28, 1887. Both being in delicate health they went to Colorado in 1895, thinking the mountain air would prove beneficial to them. Mr. Benge imporved steadly, but Mrs. Benge grew steadily worse. The husband, knowing he had but a short time to live, for the dread disease, consumption, had already laid its hand upon him, they returened to Davis county, thinking her life might be saved. Shortly after their return, he died, leaving a wife and little daughter. After her husband's death Flora rapidly failed until her death. Two children were born to them, one of whom preceded them to the better land. Little Martha is left alone without father or mother, Mrs. Benge was a devoted christian. She talked much of her future home and the happiness awaiting her in her Father's mansion. A few hours before she died she called her mother to her bedside and said, "Mother, I am going home; if I could only look at you and close my eyes, I will be so happy." Her friend and relatives will miss her, but they mourn not as those who have no hope; for she left them the blessed assurance that she was passing to be with her Savior, where all is peace, joy and love. compliments of pshinder
