Jan 25, 1924 - Pg 1 Laid to Rest Last Thursday Flora Hannah Johnson was born at Marion, Ohio, May 22, 1857, she was married to Laban Sigman in the same state in the year 1878. To this union were born eleven children, two of whom died in infancy: the remainder survive. From Ohio, Mrs. Sigman removed to Illinois and lived, successively, at Galesburg and Abington. In December, 1885, she removed to Nebraska and settled in the vicinity of Edgar, where she made her home ever since, removing to this town in October, 1917. Her husband preceded her to the other world June 13, 1910. For some time she had been ailing with gall trouble and January 4. 1924, she was removed to the Mayo Brothers Hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, where she underwent an operation from which she never recovered, dying from ether pneumonia Sunday, January 13, 1924 at 7:10 P. M. aged 66 years, 7 months and 21 days. She is survived by nine children, Mrs. Frank Spurling, Mrs. O. J. Shipley, Fred, Bob, Otis and Miss Cleo, all of Edgar; Charles of , Nebraska; and Mrs. Jay Warner and Mrs. Arthur Hemstrem, both of Colby, Kansas; besides two sisters, Mrs. Joe Groff of Denver and Mrs. Sam Stansbury of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and six brothers, James Johnson of Chyenne (sic) Wells, Colorado; Frank Johnson of Oregon City, Oregon; Dean of Pittsburg, Kansas; Clyde of Nevada, Missouri and Charles and John of this place. At an early age, Mrs. Sigman was converted and became a member of the Christian Church, which she has adhered all of her life since. She was a loving mother and a kind neighbor and be greatly missed in this community where she has made her home for so many years. Her home duties and family care en her attention so that she found little time for activies (sic) that circle of loved ones and intimate friends but the quiet unobusive influence of the years has left its mark upon the hearts of those who knew and loved her best and those precious memories will never fade er industry and faithful attention o the hoe interest may well be emulated by all. The bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of large circle of friends in this dark hour. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church Edgar, Nebraska, Thursday, January 17, 1924 at 2 P. M., the minister, Charles A. Shook officiating, after which interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery. There were present at the funeral from other places. G. C.
