The last named couple were married by Judge Palmer. ======================== The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE), Friday, April 23, 1943; pg. 1 Goldie Pearl Spurling Goldie Pearl Sigman was born March 22, 1876, at Monmouth, Warren county (sic) Illinois. She came with her parents to Nebraska in December, 1885. She was united in marriage to Frank Spurling at Clay Center, Nebraska, July 30, 1898. To this union were born four children, Clarence Robert Spurling of Pueblo, Colorado; Flora Mae Jacobs of Edgar, Nebraska; and Orin Isaac Spurling of Davenport, Nebraska. Velda LaVerle died on September 20, 1929. Besides the three children she is survived by four brothers and four sisters, Fred Sigman of Edgar Nebraska Robert Sigman of Martin, South Dakota; Charles Sigman of Amelia, Nebraska; Pete Sigman of Martin, South Dakota; Mrs. Jay Warner and Mrs. Arthur Hemstrom of Colby, Kansas; Mrs. Albert Owen of Geneva, Nebraska; and Mrs. Boyd Fuller of Cokeville, Wyoming thirteen grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Spurling lived at Sutton, Nebraska, then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where they lived for five years. They then came back and settled in the vicinity of Nelson and Edgar where she made her home ever since. She moved to Edgar three years ago. Her husband preceded her in death April 15 (sic), 1942. She had enjoyed good health until recent months when she became ill and after some time was taken to a hospital in Hastings. She was later removed to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vernon Jacobs, west of Edgar where she remained until she was taken in death April 18, 1943. She became a member of the Methodism church September 13, 1942, and enjoyed the association of the members of the Sunday school and church and gave willingly of her time to the work of the church. She was a kind and loving mother and derived great satisfaction in ministering to the needs of her immediate family and enjoyed to the fullest the rendering of services to others. In fact, her greatest joy came in serving others, her family and her host of friends. She was loved by all who knew her. One of her great sources of happiness was to be surrounded by an abundance of flowers in her yard during the growing season She was widely known throughout the community and held in high esteem by a large circle of friends and acquaintances who will miss her. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Tuesday, April 20, 1943, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. S. W. Longacre in charge. A quartette composed of J. G. Walley, M. E. Cushing, Mrs. E. J. Mort and Mrs. L. B. Dalton sang "There Is a Land" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Mort sang "Good Night and Good Morning." Mrs. Lydia Phelps was at the piano. Mrs. Clifford Wilson, Mrs. Carl Mills and Mrs. Floyd Kollman had charge of the flowers. Pallbearers were: M. E. Cushing, Timothy Kane, Wood Basey, Wm. Smith, Guy Kinkead and Carl Eigenberg.
