She graduated from Bloomfield High School and Drake University. She taught school in Wapello and Van Buren counties and retired from Davis County Schools after 36 years of service. She and her husband farmed north of Bloomfield for more than 50 years.... She is survived by a son, Harold Downing, of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Earl, Carl, Stanley, Neri, Garlan and Leslie Hoskin and three sisters, Orpha, Stella and Affa. The services were Tuesday at Priester Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield with the Rev. Quentin Johnson officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorials may be made to the Floris Community Hall.
