Teater OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, May 8, 1958 FLORA LAING Flora Laing, eldest child of Thomas and Nancy Teegarden, was born April 23, 1874 near Bethlehem, Iowa, and passed away May 3, 1958, at Corydon, Iowa, at the age of 84 years and 10 days. Early in life she accepted Christ as her Saviour and became a member of the New York Christian Church. She spent most of her life in Wayne County, moving to Lucas County near Russell in 1936. Seven years later they moved into Russell where they have since resided. On February 19, 1896, she united in marriage to Edwin E. Laing. To this union 9 sons were born: Paul of Chariton; Lloyd of Humboldt; Otto of Algona; Dr. Marzee of Des Moines; Dean of Iowa Falls; Kermit of Chariton; Bernard of Rockwell City; T. J. of Osceola; and Max, who died in infancy. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, 8 sons, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one brother, Roy Teegarden of Cassville, Missouri, three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Sollenbarger of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Mrs. Edith Cooley and Mrs. Gladys Buckworth of Corydon, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She was a wonderful wife and mother, a good and kind friend and neighbor, beloved by all who knew her. Funeral services were held in the New York Christian Church Monday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Interment was in the New York Cemetery.
