Description	:	Florence E. Shemek, 90, of Fullerton died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Richard Whiteing will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton. Mrs. Shemek was born Oct. 28, 1920, at Genoa to Fairon Sr. and Bessie (Harmon) Anderson. On Oct. 20, 1939, she married Edward F. Shemek in Genoa at the Catholic Parsonage. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2007. Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Evelyn Shemek of Bellevue; four daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Larry Lowe of Montgomery, Ala., Peggy and Richard Weitzel of Fremont, Rosemary and Philip Roewert of Lincoln and Sally and Roger Nelson of Norfolk; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother Roger Anderson of Genoa. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews. She attended Genoa schools. She worked in the family cafe until she was married. She also taught Sunday School at the Lutheran Church. She then attended the University of North Dakota receiving a diploma in Dietary Supervisor. She was a housewife and homemaker until 1970 then she worked in the Dietary Department at Fullerton Memorial Hospital retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, Legion Auxiliary, 4-H leader, Women's Club President for several years, Wall Street Club, X.G.G.'s Club, several extension clubs and several card clubs. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, (making her children's clothes) cooking, embroidery and she loved baking. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Fairon Anderson Jr.; two sisters, Gloria Reynolds and an infant sister, Bessie Anderson.
