McKinley, and Jennie Dunphy--It is a well-established fact that the most charming members of our society are the young girls, with their bright eyes, the bloom of health upon their pretty faces, and their happy, buoyant manners. The Portrait Gallery today presents a number of these face, and each of the young ladies is a belle in her own particular set. [extract] Miss Florence Reed, as her picture will easily show, is one of the prettiest girls of San Francisco. Although not so devoted to the gay world as some others, she is as well known as any other belle. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Reed, old residents of this state. Her youngest sister, Lillie, also very pretty, is one of the debutantes of this winter. Miss Reed is a native of California and has received a fine education. She sings well, accompanying herself on the guitar which she handles in an exceedingly graceful manner. She dances well and is a good dresser. Miss Reed has the advantage of the very best eastern society, which she met through introduction by Mrs. Paran Stevens who is the young lady's aunt. She is also a close friend of Mrs. Herman Oelrichs (nee Fair). Miss Reed has a good figure, not tall, and is a demi-brunette. [SF Call, 2-7-1892] She was the wife of John Hodges Toler ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Toler-Reed Wedding One of the prettiest weddings ever witnessed in Auburn was solemnized in St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Saturday last at 4 PM. The high contracting parties were Mr. John Hodges Toler of the English Colony, Penryn, and Miss Florence Elizabeth Reed of this city. Rev. W. L. Clark read the beautiful Episcopal wedding ceremony, and Lohengrin's March was played by Mr. Wallace Dewe. Messrs. J. Owen and R. Flower acted as ushers. Mr. A. Egerton Garnett attended the groom, and the bride was given away by her father. She wore a covert cloth tailor-made gown, brown hat trimmed with ecru lace and violets. The groom was attired in the conventional black. The decorations of the church were pink and white roses. Of the bride and groom, much can be said of them. The bride is the eldest daughter of Hon. C. F. Reed, is highly accomplished, and prior to her mother's death, figured quite prominently in San Francisco society. She has also spent a couple of seasons in New York with her aunt, the late Mrs. Paran Stevens. The groom is lately of Cheshire, England, and was educated in the best schools in England. The honeymoon will be spent at Del Monte in Southern California. Returning, Mr. and Mrs. Toler will take up their residence at Auburndale Ranch north of Auburn.
