Evelyn was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Sterling. Her parents were Charles and Iona (Lake) Bailey. She attended Graylin School, graduating from high school on May 19, 1932. Evelyn married Verle Lewellyn Leckler on May 24, 1933, in Sterling. After 57 years of marriage, Verle passed away on June 28, 1990. The couple ranched and farmed on a ranch they purchased from Verle's uncle, which was homesteaded in 1913 located on the road called Leckler Lane. In 1977, they moved to Sterling. Evelyn was active in First Christian Church. She helped with the bazaars, the dinners, the Bible study, the prayer chains and sending of cards. She liked her garden and flowers. She loved spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All the visits, phone calls and cards she received from her family and friends were so special to her. Evelyn is survived by her son, Elton Leckler and wife Judy of Sterling; daughter, Beryl Wagner and husband Darrell of Padroni; brothers, Art Bailey of Clinton, Iowa, Walter Bailey of Brush; sisters, Cleora Becker of Sacramento, Calif., Charlene Bailey of Sacramento; sister-in-law, Margaret Bailey of Sterling; brother-in-law, Ralph Leckler and wife Annabell of Loveland. Also, surviving grandchildren are Scott Leckler and wife Michelle of Center, Crystal Kirschbaum and husband Tim of Lincoln, Neb., Nita Boltz and husband Steve of Pierre, S.D., Lisa Logan and husband Dave of Sterling, Jay Wagner and wife Laura of Padroni and Tami Bruegman and husband Chip of Eaton. She has two children, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandson. Evelyn was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Iona Bailey; stepmother, Frances Bailey; brother, Gilbert Bailey; sisters, Erva Rodgers, Gerda May Gladbach, Opal Lindaas and Wilda Behrns.
